GONE BUT NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN: Luyinda Faizal Takaliya (Taka) Laid to Rest, Legacy of Service Lives on.
By: Meddy Walusimbi Omuyiribi/ Saturday 12th September, 2026.
Kampala – News of the passing of Faizal cut through many people’s hearts like a knife, as friends, family and Kampala business community mourned the sudden demise of Luyinda Faizal commonly known as Taka. He died on August 19, 2026, and was laid to rest the next day at his ancestral home in Bulo Butambala District, Uganda.
Born on October 24, 1987 in Kazo Kawempe, Faizal spent the most part of his last day struggling with chest pain, till he was rushed to Lifeline Community clinic Budo, Wakiso where he breathed his last, shortly after admission around 9:00 pm.
His death came as a huge shock to many, as he had no major health complaints at least not this year. He had previously battled severe ulcers between 2024 and 2025 but had recovered fully, even completing his Umra and Hijjah earlier this year in perfect health.
Taka was the Managing Director, Lifeline Construction Company Ltd, previous and recently elected Chairman, Silompasi B, Kampala and the Chairman, Gombe Secondary School – Elites Association (Class 2000 – 2005). As Chairman, Salompasi B, he was credited for working with various authorities to restore peace in Arua Park in Kampala business area and had just been voted back into office for a new term of office barely a month earlier on July 28, 2026.
He was an alumni of Kibuli Demonstration School, Gombe Secondary School, where he served as the Dinning prefect (“Taata Bay” ) and later graduated from the prestigious Makerere University, Uganda with a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Psychology.
At Makerere University, colleagues remember him choosing to live in a humble neighbourhood in Kikoni called, “Namyalo” despite him having means to live a better life. He prefered to live close to the needy people. Close friends describe him as a unifier. At all levels of his leadership, his presence alone ensured order and harmony.
Faizal also had a unique ability of sensing when someone was struggling. There are nights he would call just to say, “…one of us isn’t okay and we need to help…” said his close friend Mr. Ivan Kasanvu.
Taka is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amina Luyinda, and three sons, Luyinda Ryan, Luyinda Adel, and Luyinda Sadir. Indeed, the legacy of Luyinda shall live on. We pray that Almighty God, guides, protects, provides, and blesses his surviving family as he truly loved and served his God.
Beyond his official titles, Taka will be remembered for quietly helping many friends and family travel to Mecca for the holy pilgrimage, fully supporting various mosque activities and his unwavering kindness, integrity and brotherhood.
The brotherhood spirit he served with and built over the years will not end with his passing but shall live on in the many hearts of those he loved.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Faizo was such a disciplinarian, I recall him during his tenure as Taata bay at Gombe. He could just stand still and the look on his face was just enough to put everyone in order. Such memories will never die. May Allah brighten his way. MHSRIP.
A truly kind, humble and genuine soul with unwavering integrity. He was compassionate, generous and always willing to do good for others. It never mattered how long you had been out of touch he welcomed you with the same warmth as always. A rare soul who brought people together and left a beautiful mark on many lives. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
He was a devoted Muslim, yet he never judged people who were different from him or made others feel less because of their beliefs or character. He gave everyone a chance and had a beautiful way of seeing the best in people. He was truly an all-round person…kind, welcoming, humble, and able to connect with people from all walks of life. People like him leave a mark on you without even realizing it. May he Rest in Paradise.
Taka was a true brother. Not only to his biological family but all he came to know personaly. He engaged with anyone and everyone. Always looking for solutions to issues spoken about or misfortunes that may occur around him. A go getter. Always doing something or planing something, and he truely believed in togetherness. He had a giving heart and wanted the best for everyone around him. We have lost a comrade. May God grant him paradise.
